Overtime Policy
Guidelines for non-exempt employees working overtime hours.
Who is Eligible?
- Non-exempt employees: Hourly employees eligible for overtime
- Exempt employees: Salaried employees not eligible for overtime pay
Check your classification in UKG or ask HR if unsure.
Overtime Rate
- Time and a half: 1.5x regular hourly rate
- Applies to: Hours over 40 in a workweek
- Workweek: Sunday 12:00 AM - Saturday 11:59 PM
Pre-Approval Required
All overtime must be approved in advance by your manager.
How to Request
- Email or Slack your manager before working OT
- Explain why overtime is needed
- Estimate hours
- Get written approval
- Log actual hours worked in UKG
Unapproved Overtime
- You will still be paid for hours worked (legally required)
- However, working unapproved OT is a policy violation
- May result in disciplinary action
- Always get approval first
Recording Overtime
- Log all hours in UKG timesheet
- System automatically calculates OT
- Submit timesheet by Sunday 11:59 PM
- Manager approves
- OT paid in next paycheck
Compensatory Time Off
BetterHealth does not offer comp time. Overtime is paid as wages only.
Meal Breaks
- 30-minute unpaid meal break required for shifts over 5 hours
- Meal break time not counted as hours worked
- Must clock out and in for meal break
Holiday Overtime
- Working on a company holiday: Regular pay + holiday pay (2x total)
- If also over 40 hours: 1.5x + holiday pay (2.5x total)
